My sides (Mishkins, Covent Garden).

Half n half of onion rings and chips. These chips were lovely, rustic and flavoursome. The onion rings were perfectly fine but not a stand out.

The spring greens were intended to be a refreshing addition to balance out the rich mac n cheese. Instead they were watery and tough, and lacking in flavour. And SUPER overpriced. In other words: avoid like the plague.

Poutine with onions, tomato, mushroom and Swiss cheese (Poutineville, Montreal, Canada)

At Poutineville the default gravy is vegetarian and you choose your toppings using a checklist. It wasn’t as tasty as La Banquise but still good.

"The Rachel" poutine - green peppers, onions and mushroom over chips, cheese curds and vegetarian gravy (La Banquise, Montreal, Canada)

Best. Poutine. Ever. Shoulda got the large.

Spinach, Brazil nut and mozzarella burger with fries and lemony mayo (Chez Victor, Quebec City, Canada)

I loved this place and it had four veggie burgers. I wished I had ordered a different one though! I didn’t love this. The mountain of great fries were effective consolation, though.

HANGER fries - CHEESE, SMOKEY ONIONS & BURGER SAUCE (The Diner, Shoreditch)

Tasty but went super soggy fast. Kind of a take on In n Out animal style fries.

Halloumi wrap with baked fries and slaw (Leon, Strand)

Highly recommend this wrap. Much better than the halloumi burger. I’m craving it again already.

The baked fries are lovely and crisp but the slaw was a real let down - bland and full of peas (why?!)

Veggie burger with extra cheese, served with fries and gherkin laced mayo (All Star Lanes, Whiteleys Bayswater)

This is a weak veggie burger. Though it’s made in house, it’s that typical vegetable mush encased in breadcrumbs. The result is a burger that squooshes out of the sides of the bun every time you bite down. Very messy and you lose the lovely crisp texture all too quickly.

Fries very standard, but the pickle mayo was a nice touch. As you can see, I put fries in my burger - if you don’t do it, you’re missing out.

Macaroni cheese and “fries” (Chez Bob, Belsize Park)

Chips and some kind of breadcrumbed cheese goodness with mayo based dip (Who knows where?)
